Belknap is a native of Damariscotta. She was born in Damariscotta in Maine. She was a student at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle Maine. When she was at Middlebury College in Vermont she gained an interest in acting. The American Conservatory Theater awarded her an MFA in Fine Arts. Belknap has numerous television credits, including episodes with regulars in Medical Investigation, Third Watch as well as The Handler. She also performed recurring roles on Deadline and Law & Order Law & the Special Victims section in addition to appearances in guest-starring roles. Belknap made her debut as the lead actress in a feature length film called The Reality Trap, an independent film. The film was a part of Alchemy.
